In general, I believe that students gain the greatest understanding through practice. However, I am aware that there is no one-size-fits-all solution when it comes to working with people. Some gain understanding through high volume practice, gaining confidence as they are able to measure progress. Others learn more when they are able to consider problems on a conceptual level and talk through the underlying theory. A successful tutor must be willing and able to observe and listen to the student, understand what works for him or her, and then adapt interactions accordingly. My students respond well to working with me because I have the desire and ability to help each person uncover his or her potential. I make the investment necessary to understand where the student is in the process, how much existing knowledge he has and what is necessary to help the student advance. My tutoring experience includes working with both high school and college students in Math classes from Algebra to Statistics. I have also taught MCAT preparation classes and served as academic support for a variety of Math and Science topics. In my spare time, I like to shop with my wife, run, read legal thrillers, hike, and walk my dog.
